Record Heat Possible (5/9/22)

Kbsi Forecast

This week is going to be a hot one! Record heat is looking very possible Tuesday through Thursday, with an outside shot on Friday, as well.

On Tuesday, most of us will get into the upper 80s. This heat and humidity will be fueled by a gusty south to southwest wind at 15 to 25 mph. Some of us may even get into the lower 90s. A few of the record highs for Tuesday are:

Cape Girardeau: 89 set in 1987

Paducah: 88 set in 2015

Carbondale: 91 set in 1916

Poplar Bluff: 90 set in 1986

New Madrid: 90 set in 2007

On Wednesday and Thursday, the upper 80s and lower 90s for highs will be likely once again with overnight lows near 70 degrees.

By Friday, the heat will try to stick around but a cold front will sweep through giving us a chance at some showers and thunderstorms and eventually, some cooler air.
