Record Heat Possible Thursday, Storm Chance on Friday

Record-breaking heat returns to the Heartland once again on Thursday, but changes are on the way as we close out the work week on Friday.

A very mild evening is on the way for the viewing area tonight and into early Thursday. Temperatures are only expected to fall into the lower to middle 60s.

Very mild conditions late Wednesday into Thursday for Cape Girardeau. Clear skies will be joined by a strong southerly breeze.

Clear skies look to continue for most of the afternoon on Thursday, according to the latest runs of StormCast.

Highs on Thursday will be 20 degrees above average, if not warmer, reaching the middle to upper 80s.

Strong winds and lots of sunshine look to push us into record-high territory on Thursday in Cape.

Thursday evening’s severe weather threat has continued to shift north of the viewing area.

We could still see showers and potentially a thunderstorm or two on Friday morning and into the afternoon.

Temperatures drop significantly to end the work week, falling to the 50s to start the weekend. We do anticipate high temperatures recovering by the start of next week, reaching the middle to upper 70s to start April.
