Record High Chance, Breezy for Tuesday
Record-setting heat will be possible Tuesday afternoon with several record highs in jeopardy across the viewing area.
We start off with warm temperatures through the overnight hours, which will set us up for a warmer afternoon to follow.
Temperatures tonight in Cape Girardeau will get down into the upper 60s, and warm air continues to move in from the south through a strong overnight wind.
Highs across the viewing area will be close to record-setting values, with many areas close to 20 degrees above average for mid-April.
Warm and windy highlights the Tuesday forecast for Cape, with highs anticipated in the mid-80s alongside a strong south-southwesterly wind.
A mostly quiet run of StormCast for Tuesday, with showers and thunderstorms expected to pass to our north heading into Wednesday.
Our next best chance at precipitation arrives late Wednesday into Thursday, when we could see a round of showers and thunderstorms. Record high temperatures will once again be in play for Friday, as temperatures are once again expected to climb to the middle to upper 80s. Storm chances and cooler weather arrive for the weekend.
