Severe Thunderstorm Watch for parts of southern Illinois until 7 p.m. Thursday
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for southeastern Illinois including parts of the FOX 23 viewing area until 7 p.m. CT, Thursday, August 1, 2024.
Primary threats with the storms that develop this afternoon into the evening will be damaging winds up to 70 mph likely, hail up to 1″ in diameter and a tornado or two.
A cluster of thunderstorms over southern Illinois should further intensify as it spread eastward across lower parts of the Ohio Valley. If a tornado or two occurs, it would be embedded within this line.
