Latest Update: 8:30 p.m. CST January 8, 2026
Scattered showers and thunderstorms arrive in our area by Thursday evening, bringing with them a chance for severe weather. While severe weather potential this evening is low, it is always important to have a plan in place. If possible, seek shelter in the lowest level of a building, away from windows, and put as many walls between yourself and the outdoors.
Above is the latest run of StormCast, showing showers and thunderstorms reaching our area late Thursday evening and into early Friday.
A few of our counties are also included in a Marginal Risk on Friday as this system exits to our east. An isolated tornado and damaging winds remain a possibility.
Forecast:
Outside of severe weather, a Wind Advisory is in place until early Friday morning, with wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour possible.
Despite the rain, temperatures remain mild overnight, anywhere between 20-40 degrees above average! Expect strong winds out of the southwest to join chances for precipitation, especially for our eastern counties.
We see a shift in the winds on Friday out of the north and west, but little drop in temperatures. Highs tomorrow will reach the upper 50s and lower to middle 60s! Partly sunny skies across the region with another chance of showers late Friday evening.
A drop in temperatures finally hits the region to start the weekend off with another chance of rain early and highs in the middle 40s. Temperatures continue close to average into the start of next week, before returning to the 50s on Tuesday.
