Showers Likely for Valentine’s Day
We have a pleasant Friday evening on tap with temperatures in the 40s and 50s to close out the work week.
Low temperatures tonight will continue to be mild for mid-February across the Heartland.
Cloud cover will build through the overnight hours in Cape Girardeau, with temperatures falling to the upper 30s.
Showers move into the area on Saturday morning, according to the latest runs of StormCast. Expect rain to continue into any evening plans for Valentine’s Day, finally coming to a close Sunday morning.
By Sunday afternoon, a majority of us are looking at close to or above an inch of rainfall. Up to 2 inches cannot be ruled out under the heaviest showers.
Due to prolonged chances for rain on Saturday, the Weather Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk of excessive rainfall for the southern and western portions of the viewing area. Isolated flooding cannot be ruled out.
Highs on Saturday will be a couple of degrees above average in the lower to middle 50s.
We are expecting seasonal temperatures for Valentine’s Day in Cape, though any outdoor plans to celebrate should be moved indoors.
Mild temperatures will stick around through the weekend, and we are expected to warm up to the 60s starting on President’s Day. Warmer weather looks to highlight the forecast through next week.
