Spotty showers possible first, with severe potential by Tuesday (4/2/23)
Thanks to a southern breeze, another beautiful spring day shaped out on Sunday with highs in the upper 60s. Looking ahead, cloud cover will increase overnight with some spotty showers possible, mainly to our north.
Chances increase to see isolated rainfall after midnight. By the morning commute, we should be done with the first round of precipitation with more to come.
The first full week of April starts with a mild day, full of a mix of clouds and sun. temperatures will be starting in the lower 50s before warming into the lower 70s! It looks to be a great start to the week, right before the potential for severe weather returns.
All eyes are turning toward severe weather come Tuesday. As of Sunday afternoon, most of our region is under a Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk, with cities west of Cape Girardeau under an Enhanced (Level 3 of 5) risk.
For now, this event looks to initiate storms by Tuesday afternoon and evening through very late Tuesday night, carrying over into Wednesday. A few strong tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail are all possible. The FOX 23 Storm Alert Team is monitoring this event and will continue to bring you updates.
The second half of the week and into Easter weekend will calm down once again. Temperatures will be flirting around normal through the weekend, with more sunshine returning.
