Storms Possible Friday Afternoon, Continuing Through the Weekend

Storm chances return to the forecast on Friday, once during the afternoon and then again during the overnight hours.

Here is a look at the latest run of StormCast, showing the potential for Storms on Friday afternoon and before another round early Saturday morning.

Isolated to scattered severe storms are possible, mainly for the western half of the viewing area. A Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) of severe weather is in place for a handful of counties in southeast Missouri. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) is in place along the Missouri-Illinois border. All severe weather hazards are on the table, especially for our western counties.

Low temperatures tonight will fall to the upper 60s and lower 70s under partly cloudy skies for the Heartland.

Another calm evening ahead with a smooth Friday morning commute to follow in the Cape Girardeau area.

High temperatures will be near average, if not a touch cooler, to round out the work week across the viewing area.

Cooler weather arrives for the weekend with daily chances for showers and thunderstorms into the start of next week. Storm chances are expected to become more sporadic by early next week. This means not everyone will see afternoon showers and thunderstorms by Monday and Tuesday. Back to more seasonal weather by the middle of the work week, with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.
