Storms yesterday, quiet today and tomorrow
The forecast is quiet all the way through Mother’s Day weekend. Storms will once again become possible next week. Temperatures will be cooler tomorrow, but we warm up into the 80s by the weekend.
May 8-9, 2024 was a busy day. We had all kinds of storm reports, from hail to damaging wind to tornadoes. Survey crews are still determining if there were any tornadoes or not, so we’ll know more about that in the coming days.
So far, we have a report of an EF1 with peak winds of 110 mph touched down at the western extent of Annapolis, MO at 849pm. Tornado tracked east northeast through the city, damaging a school and several trees before lifting around Hwy C at 8:51pm. There is also another preliminary report of an EF1 that happened SE of Carbondale (not pictured), but that survey continues.
We had many, many reports of thunderstorm wind damage and wind gusts.
There were a lot of hail reports, too.
Moving on to Friday, it’s going to be a quiet and cool day. Temperatures will start in the 50s and top out in the lower 70s.
The wind will be a little breezy with gusts trying for 20 mph.
Mother’s Day Weekend is looking very mild with quite a bit of sunshine!
We’ll be quiet all the way through the weekend with more chances for storms next week.
