Sunny and Warm This Week, Rain Chances Return This Weekend
Sunny and warm weather continues on Thursday and through the remainder of the work week in the Heartland. While temperatures are warm, a northerly wind helps keep humidity down.
Short-range runs of StormCast show quiet conditions through the day on Thursday. Plenty of sunshine will join temperatures on the warmer side for early October.
Overnight temperatures will remain mild through the viewing area as well. Overnight lows will fall to the upper 50s and lower 60s by Thursday morning.
Expect mild conditions through the overnight in Cape Girardeau. Impacts to the morning commute are expected to be minimal.
High temperatures stay close to 10 degrees above average on Thursday, as highs remain in the middle 80s.
Winds stay on the lighter side Thursday afternoon for Cape. High temperatures are expected to climb back into the middle to upper 80s.
Friday afternoon will stay dry, with above average temperatures persisting through the end of the week.
Chances for showers and thunderstorms return to the forecast this weekend. The remnants of what is currently Tropical Storm Isaias (as of Wednesday afternoon) will move north through the Heartland. Timing of this system has moved up in the last 24 hours and is anticipated to move through the region throughout the day Saturday and into early Sunday.
After the leftovers from Isaias pass through, temperatures cool off closer to average for mid-October. Highs return to the 70s and lower 80s, with a dry stretch to start next week.
