Sunny Thursday, Storm Chances Return Friday

Another pleasant day will be ahead for the Heartland on Thursday as high temperatures remain below average with plenty of sunshine. Winds will stay on the lighter side out of the northeast, less than 10 miles per hour.

StormCast shows a few passing clouds on Thursday ahead of building chances for showers and a few rumbles of thunder by Friday morning. Storm chances could continue into Friday afternoon.

Temperatures will fall to the lower and middle 60s for the start of the day on Thursday. Partly cloudy skies with minimal impacts to your morning commute are expected.

We will see partly to mostly cloudy skies on Wednesday night into Thursday morning for the Cape Girardeau area. Temperatures will be a handful of degrees below average for late July, dropping to the lower 60s.

The majority of the viewing area should expect to see below-average temperatures for Thursday afternoon. Highs will range from the lower to middle 80s for our area.

We may see a few passing clouds by the afternoon in Cape, though Thursday is expected to stay mostly sunny. Calm conditions are in the forecast for Thursday afternoon, with highs reaching the lower 80s.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms are also on the table for Friday evening and into the day on Saturday.

Cooler temperatures join our chances for showers and thunderstorms through the start of the weekend, though the heat will return. Mostly sunny skies move into the Heartland by the start of next week, joined by highs heading back to the 90s.
