Temperatures Continue to Climb Saturday
Forecast:
Warmer temperatures will continue through the evening hours on Friday with mostly sunny skies. Safe to say you will be able to leave the jacket at home for any Friday night plans!
Low temperatures tonight will drop into the lower 70s for much of the region with mostly clear skies and a light breeze.
There is a HEAT ADVISORY in place from 11 a.m. CDT until 7 p.m. CDT on Saturday, August 16. We could see heat index values up to 105 degrees, with additional advisories that cover more of our viewing area, possible this weekend.
Temperatures on Saturday will reach the upper 90s with light winds and plenty of sunshine.
Temperatures quickly heat up here in Cape Girardeau, where we will spend most of our Saturday in the 90s.
Stormcast shows temperatures already into the 90s by noon on Saturday and not much cloud cover to try and bring us relief from the heat.
The forecast looks hot enough on its own, but add in higher levels of humidity, and most of us will see heat index values above 100 degrees.
Higher humidity has no plans of leaving anytime soon, either. Dew points remain above 75 degrees until at least the middle of next week.
The latest round of heat reaches its peak early next week with high temperatures in the upper 90s and potentially reaching the triple digits. Storm chances on Tuesday and Wednesday as a cold front moves through to finally bring us some relief from the heat by Thursday. High temperatures for the end of next week will drop to near-average.
