Temperatures warming up, on par for Memorial Day

With little to no change expected overall in the weather pattern short term, we are going to continue to see temperatures warm up through the rest of the holiday weekend and past Memorial Day. We’ll be pushing toward the 90s Wednesday and into the start of June.

Most of our area will see plenty of sun through Sunday. However, some cloud cover will push in from the east in western Kentucky on Sunday, keeping things a touch cooler.

And looking more into the climatology of Memorial Day right around the corner, the weather seems to be pretty on par compared to previous years. Usually, temperatures are in the 80s and that is what we have in the forecast for Monday.

The warmest Memorial Day on record was back in 2012, when we saw 96° for a high. As for the rain we haven’t seen in a while, we don’t usually see much on Memorial Day. In the past five years, we have only seen trace amounts three of those years.

June also marks the beginning of meteorological summer, and it will feel like it. Rain and storm chances will return by the end of the forecast period, toward next weekend. For now, still quiet and dry overall.
