Above is our latest run of StormCast, showing potential for showers and thunderstorms through Thursday morning.
Several rounds of rain are expected through this weekend, which could bring some much-needed moisture to the region. While it likely will not completely fix our drought situation across the viewing area, we will hopefully see some improvement.
Forecast:
We are expecting mild temperatures to take over the forecast through the upcoming weekend. Our low temperatures tonight reflect that, coming in at over 20 degrees above average.
Mostly cloudy skies will help keep warmer air trapped near the surface overnight in Cape Girardeau. A stray shower or two will be possible, but the best chances for rain come on Wednesday.
Many of us look to reach the 70s again on Wednesday across the viewing area with a light south-southwesterly wind.
We will see chances for showers on Wednesday morning in Cape before chances for showers and thunderstorms take over for the afternoon and into the evening.
Temperatures look to reach their peak by Friday, which should give us a chance at a little bit of sunshine ahead of more storm chances this weekend. Showers and thunderstorms remain a staple in the forecast through the start of next week.
