Warmer Temperatures Continue, Storm Chances Late Thursday
Temperatures well above normal will continue into Wednesday evening with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. We will come close to a record high today, but will likely stay short, with the current record at 67° set in 2008.
The trend of above-average temperatures continues across the heartland this evening with lows in the 40s.
Cape Girardeau will see the middle 40s tonight under mostly cloudy skies and a light south-southeasterly breeze.
Another warm day lies ahead for tomorrow, with more cloud cover across the region.
Cloudy skies and a chance of a brief shower around noon start our Thursday off. Afternoon temperatures look to be in the middle 60s (once again short of tomorrow’s record- 69° 1965) before chances for showers and thunderstorms increase late Thursday afternoon and into Thursday evening.
There is a chance for severe weather across our area late Thursday evening and into early Friday. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk of severe weather for Thursday, with an isolated tornado or two and damaging winds being the primary concerns.
Above is the latest run of Stormcast showing the arrival of showers and thunderstorms late Thursday.
Showers will be possible once again on Friday as the latest stretch of above-average temperatures comes to a close. Highs return closer to average for the start of next week, dropping into the lower 40s.
