Watching for hard freeze conditions the next few nights (3/12/23)
One of the headlines going into the next few days is the potential for multiple freezes, including a hard freeze affecting vegetation. For now, a Freeze Warning is in effect for our southern region Sunday night, with Freeze Watches for Monday and Tuesday night.
The first light freeze is expected overnight as temperatures fall right around freezing by Monday morning. Winds will be out of the northwest and still gusting upwards of 25 mph, giving a chill and bite to the air to start the week.
A system moves southeast from the Great Lakes, bringing colder air that keeps highs in the 40s Monday. Cooler than Sunday, but an overall similar feel to the day.
The first night of a potential hard freeze affecting any growth that has managed to flourish yet this season is Monday night into Tuesday. Temperatures will be below freezing for a while overnight, dropping into the mid and upper 20s across the FOX 23 area.
Past Tuesday, temperatures warm up midweek before we see rain return to the forecast Thursday into Friday.
