Wednesday Afternoon, Evening Severe Weather Update – March 4, 2026
Severe Weather Potential:
Latest update: 3:59 p.m. CST, March 4, 2026
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in place for portions of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and western Kentucky until 9 p.m. CST Wednesday, March 4. Severe storms will be possible through this time period, followed by non-severe showers and thunderstorms through the remainder of the overnight hours.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) of severe weather for portions of southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) is in place for the Bootheel of Missouri, portions of northwest Tennessee and western Kentucky.
An isolated tornado, large hail and damaging winds are all possible in the strongest storms moving through our area. Above is the breakdown of the chances of seeing each of these hazards in your area.

Finally, flooding remains a possibility for areas that will see prolonged periods of rainfall this evening. A Flood Watch is in place for portions of southern Illinois until 12 p.m. CST Thursday, March 5.
Forecast:
Mild overnight temperatures will join Wednesday evening’s chances of severe weather. Lows are expected in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Temperatures well-above average will persist for a stormy Thursday afternoon, with highs expected in the 70s.
Storm chances will continue into the start of the weekend before we see a brief period of sunshien for Sunday. The warmer weather looks to stick around into next week, as chances for precipitation ramp up starting on Monday.
