Weekend storm chances increase

Daytime Saturday will be mostly sunny, as the evening hours arrive so will the overnight storm chances. The storm activity will continue throughout Sunday, with a Slight Risk for Severe Weather in place. Damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Temperatures will warm up for the weekend as hazy conditions improve.

An hourly look into Saturday, we’ll see some sunshine throughout the day, with temperatures warming into the upper 80s. Possible storms arrive overnight Saturday into Sunday.

Saturday temperatures warm up into the upper 80s, with light wind speeds from the south at 5-10 mph.

While we stay dry through the AM hours on Saturday our Skeeter Meter is forecasting a lower ranking for mosquito activity. A medium ranking for mosquitos is expected on Sunday as humidity levels increase. After two nights of precipitation our Monday ranking is slightly higher compared to our weekend mosquito activity.

There is a Slight Risk for Severe Weather (level 2/5) in place through Sunday for most of the KBSI viewing area. Parts of southern Illinois are in a Marginal Risk for Severe Weather (level 1/5). Damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado will be possible. The Storm Alert Team will continue to track this storm system as it arrives.

Weekend storms are likely to start up overnight Saturday and continue throughout Sunday. Temperatures dip into the lower 80s on Sunday. We dry up once again on Monday, before a smaller storm chance arrives for both Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will warm back into the mid to upper 80s by the middle of next week.
