Winter storm through Monday

An ICE STORM WARNING (purple) is in effect from 2am Sunday to 6am Monday through the central part of the FOX23 viewing area, including Cape Girardeau and Carbondale. Significant icing is expected with total snow and sleet accumulations up to 2″ and ice accumulations between 0.25-0.75″ are possible.

WINTER STORM WARNING (pink) is in effect early Sunday morning through early Monday morning north of the Ice Storm Warning. Heavy mixed precipitation is possible: total snow and sleet accumulations between 3-5″ and ice accumulations between 0.20-0.50″ are possible.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY (light purple) is in effect early Sunday morning through early Monday morning for Paducah, Poplar Bluff and areas south of the Ice Storm Warning. Mixed precipitation is expected with total snow accumulations up to 1″ and ice accumulations around 0.30″ possible.

StormCast is showing the freezing rain and snow starting tonight around 9-1oPM for our northern counties. Early Sunday morning, the rain and freezing rain starts to pick up for most of us. This will continue through the Sunday afternoon. There could be a few heavy downpours and even a few severe thunderstorm warnings embedded within all of this. The peak of this system will begin Sunday morning and early Sunday afternoon. Sunday evening, a small break from the rain for a few hours. Early Monday morning, some freezing drizzle and snow will begin and be out by Monday afternoon and evening.

Ice accumulations up to half an inch is possible Saturday night into Monday morning. This will make for slippery conditions outside on sidewalks, roads, and bridges.
