Winter storm taking shape (12/20/22)
A Winter Storm Watch is in place for a good portion of Missouri and Illinois and into Kentucky. The watch is in place Thursday afternoon through Thursday night with a few inches of snow possible. The wind will also pick up, potentially blowing the snow around.
Snow starts to move in by Thursday afternoon after rain falls on and off throughout the day. It will continue to press east during the evening hours and exit our area by early Friday morning.
Depending on when the rain changes to snow, anywhere from an inch to a few inches of snow will be possible by late Thursday into early Thursday afternoon. More snow is expected the further north and west you go.
Then, a Wind Chill Watch goes into place Thursday into Friday, with a Wind Chill Warning further west. In our area, temperatures will drop into the single digits late Thursday into Friday and with a gusty north wind at 15 to 30 mph, the wind chill will drop into the -15 to -25 degree range.
