1 injured after about 40 shots fired in Cape Girardeau
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau police are investigating after one person was injured when about 40 shots were fired in the 1100 block of S. Sprigg on Sunday.
An officer with the Cape Girardeau Police Department while conducting patrol heard approximately 40 shots being fired in the 1100 block of S. Sprigg on May 28.
That officer responded to the area while simultaneously receiving an alert from Shot Spotter of the shots being fired.
Officers arrived on scene and found several shell casings along with other evidence.
Officers found three homes that had been struck by bullets.
A victim who appeared to have non-life threatening injuries from a gunshot wound was taken to a local hospital. Officers made contact with the victim at the hospital. However, police say the victim was uncooperative with the investigation.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department strongly encourages citizens to report anything they may have seen during this shooting.
