Annual Pride in the Park Event Celebrates LGBTQ+ Community in Capaha Park

Cape Girardeau, Mo. (KBSI) – The fourth annual Pride in the Park event took place today, providing a joyful gathering for individuals to express their true selves in a supportive environment.
Hosted by JT Masters, Pride in the Park holds immense significance as it offers an opportunity for the entire community to unite and celebrate their identities while acknowledging the struggles faced over the years.
“It’s really, really important because it gives us a chance for the whole community to come together to celebrate who we are and the challenges we have overcome,” expressed Masters.
Pride in the Park serves as a platform for LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies to come together, celebrate diversity, and shine a spotlight on the LGBTQ+ community.
Attendee Veronica Young attended the event with great enthusiasm, recognizing its importance in providing a safe space for others.
“I think it’s super important. There are a lot of people here who need representation and a sense of community. In the South, which may not be the most accepting area, it’s important to have a public safe space where you can meet people,” Young shared.
Masters assures those who missed today’s event that there are still numerous safe spaces and future events to look forward to.
