12-year-old girl opens candy shop in Perryville

PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – Perryville is known for its family-owned businesses, such as Mary Jane Burgers and Brew, to Hoeckele’s Bakery and Deli.

Now a new addition to Jackson Street just hit the block.

Hadley Warren, is the co-owner, of Hadley’s Candy.

“I’ve just always wanted to have my own business, since I was like eight or nine,” said Hadley.

Hadley Warren was dreaming of lollipops and Jolly Ranchers. She and her mother, Morgan, recently opened a candy shop on the corner of the town square.

“She came to us and said I really want to open a candy store and I really want to do it with you,” said Morgan.

The mother daughter duo opened doors to the public on Wednesday June 14. They feel a candy shop is just what the community needed.

“We love what’s going on downtown here,” said Morgan.

Warren’s mother says Hadley worked to learn the ends and outs of starting up, owning and running a business.

“Hadley worked really hard, to bring her vision to life here.”

With a fresh layer of blue paint and rainbow-colored candies, Hadley says that it took a lot of help from her family to make this dream a reality.

“It sometimes doesn’t work out, but you just have to keep trying.”
