Man rescued from nearly drowning at Carterville beach

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A man was rescued from a near drowning on Tuesday afternoon at a Carterville beach.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Carterville Police Department, Crainville Police Department and John A. Logan Police responded to Carterville beach at 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20 after receiving a report of a male drowning.

Carterville firefighters deployed their boat and the man was rescued and transferred to waiting EMS.

He was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and US Fish and Wildlife are handling the investigation.
