AirEvac helicopter lands at Jackson Middle School students as part of summer school

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – An AirEvac helicopter landed on the playground of Jackson Middle School Wednesday while students watched as part of the “Come Fly With Me” summer school class.
In the class, students explored the world of flight.
They looked at the history of flight from the Wright brothers to today’s drones.
Students created their own flight objects from paper airplanes to hot air balloons which were dropped off the roof of the school.
First Officer Kerry White, a pilot for United Airlines, presented to students about the path to becoming a commercial pilot.
Miranda Sullivan, Director of Aviation at Southeast Missouri State University, spoke with students about the pilot program at the university.
The “Come Fly with Me” class will conclude with a visit from Fred Finnel and the AirEvac helicopter.
