3 arrested with stolen firearm in Charleston

CHARLESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Three people were arrested in reckless driving incident with a stolen firearm in Charleston.

According to Sheriff Britton H. Ferrell, his deputy conducted a traffic stop and arrested three suspects and recovered a stolen firearm.

Late in the evening of June 2, Mississippi County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a vehicle driving recklessly on Gail Street in Charleston, attempting to run vehicles off the road and showing a firearm.

The deputy located the vehicle and pulled the driver over.  A search of the vehicle led to a stolen handgun that was loaded with 13 live rounds.

The driver, Deriechess L. Moore, and the passengers of the vehicle, Essence Lashae Johnson and Demarcus Antonio Moore, were arrested.

Deriechess L. Moore, 38, of Charleston faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, a Class D felony and stealing of a firearm, a Class D felony. No bond was set.

Demarcus A. Moore, 37, of Charleston faces charges with unlawful possession of a firearm, a Class D felony, and stealing of a firearm, a Class D felony. His bond was set at $50,000 cash only.

Essence L. Johnson, 28, of Charleston faces a charge of stealing of a firearm, a Class D felony. Her bond was set at $5,000 cash only.
