Graves County Sheriff’s Office looking for suspects after 1 shot during home invasion

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – One man was shot and another assaulted, but not injured during a burglary late Friday night in Graves County.

On July 7, about 11:08 p.m., dispatch at Kentucky State Police Post 1 received a 911 call of a burglary in progress at a home in the 1900 block of Meridian Road about five miles northwest of Hickory.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find one man shot and another who had been assaulted, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

Three to four black males entered a home in the 1900 block of Meridian Road and assaulted two males that were in the home while they ransacked the home, according to the sheriff’s office

During the robbery, KSP say one man was assaulted but was not injured and another man received gunshots wounds resulting in non-life threatening injuries.

As the suspects were leaving, a family member pulled into the driveway of the home and she and her vehicle were fired on by the suspects, according to the sheriff’s office.

Driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The suspects left in a black SUV northbound on Meridian Road.

The victim who was shot was taken by Mayfield/Graves County EMS to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

No one else in the home, including several children, received any other physical injuries that required medical treatment, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

The crime does not appear to be a random home invasion, according to KSP. Investigators believe that the victim or the home was targeted by the suspects and that all of the suspects left the scene in the black SUV before law enforcement arrived.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by on scene by Mayfield/Graves County EMS and the Kentucky State Police. The Mayfield Police Department, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and the Paducah Police Department also assisted in trying to find the suspect vehicle.
