Man facing child porn charge in Jefferson County

MT. VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces a child porn charge after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a cybertip.

Douglas A. Farris, 28, of Woodlawn faces a charge of child pornography.

The Jefferson Cuonty Sheriff’s Office Detective Division received a cybertip on June 27 about suspected child pornography activity through their membership with the Internet Crime Against Children Task Force.

This tip and subsequent investigation led to a search warrant for digital records for various internet and social media platforms.

After authorities obtained those records, Farris was identified as a suspect. Authorities obtained a search warrant for a home.

On July 25, the search warrant was served at 1210 S. 25th Street in Mt. Vernon.

During the search, evidence was collected and secured for further investigation and forensic analysis.

Multiple interviews were conducted and additional search warrants for digital records were obtained and served.

The investigation was concluded in March 2023 and sent to the States Attorney’s Office for criminal charges.

On July 7, Farris of Woodlawn was identified as suspect and found his home.

He was arrested on a Jefferson County warrant in this case.
