Scott City woman pleads not guilty to first degree murder

SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KBSI)- Scott City Police Officers responded to the 200 block of Keeley Avenue, on Monday, July 24th, due to a call of shots fired.

Upon arrival, Officers made contact with a 50-year-old male subject with gunshot wounds. The male subject later succumbed to his injuries. Leading with the investigation, officers arrested 47-year-old Mary Ruble.

Scott County Prosecuting Attorney Don Cobb formally charged Ruble with the following:
Murder 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Ruble is currently being held on a NO BOND warrant, signed by the Honorable Judge Horack.
According to court documents, Ruble had filed an Ex Parte against her boyfriend, but the two stayed together the next day. Monday, July 24th Ruble and her boyfriend exchanged heated words and shot him three times.
Ruble bought the firearm before the incident occurred.
Chief of Police, Rick Walter with the Scott City Police Department says, “From what we were able to find out, she actually purchased that gun the day of.”
This is currently an ongoing investigation.
