Fugitive arrested after found hiding in camper
COLP, Ill. (KBSI) – Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a wanted woman found in a camper in Colp.
Nichole R. Gower had an outstanding felony arrest warrant out of Williamson County for aggravated battery to a peace officer.
Williamson County Deputies tried to serve an arrest warrant August 15 at 10:52 p.m. on Gower who was in a camper located on Garfield Street in Colp.
Deputies approached the camper and knocked on the door. They could hear an aggressive dog barking and growling.
Deputies then saw a Gower answer the door, open it approximately six inches, saw it was law enforcement and immediately shut and lock the door, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies tried multiple times to get Gower to voluntarily exit the camper. After an hour long stand off, deputies entered through the door of the camper using minimal force and causing no visible damage, according to the sheriff’s office.
Gower was found in the back of the camper hiding behind a banket and holding an unknown cylindrical object. She was ordered multiple times to drop the unknown cylindrical object and to show her hands, but sheriff’s deputies say she refused.
Oleoresin Capsicum spray was deployed and Gower was arrested.
Gower faces charges for outstanding felony arrest warrant for aggravated battery to a peace officer. She was also cited for resisting/obstructing a peace officer.
She was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
