Illinois Energy Assistance program available

ILLINOIS (KBSI) – An Illinois energy assistance program will be accepting applicants next month.
Governor JB Pritzker along with Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) updated information for this years energy assistance program/LIHEAP.
LIHEAP is an energy assistance program that will help aid individuals in low-income brackets with energy assistance in their homes.
LIHEAP will begin accepting applications on October 2,2023 through August 15, 2024.
“Every Illinoisan, regardless of income, deserves to be able to keep the lights on and stay warm—especially as we near wintertime,” says Governor JB Pritzker.
The program will provide $237 million to eligible families to assist with natural gas, propane and electricity bills.
