SEMO-NASV, Safe House and Susanna Wesley Learning Center to host training for law enforcement on domestic violence

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence (SEMO-NASV), Safe House of Southeast Missouri and Susanna Wesley Learning Center have teamed up to organize a training for local law enforcement to who may encounter victims of sexual or domestic abuse. The training will have multiple locations September 14-15.

Four training courses will be held, and they will be free of charge, but pre-registration is required. Questions about the registration process should be directed to Michael Bowling at mbowling@semonasv.org.

The locations, dates and times:

  • Thursday, September 14 at Sikeston Department of Public Safety from 8 a.m. to noon
  • Thursday, September 14 at Cape Girardeau Police Department from 1-5 p.m.
  • Friday, September 15 at New Madrid Police Department from 8 a.m. to noon
  • Friday, September 15 at Susanna Wesley Learning Center in Charleston from 1-5 p.m.

Topics that will be covered in the training are victim’s rights, local resources, and constructing a probable clause statement. Guest speakers from Victims of Crime and local prosecuting attorneys will be attending. Additionally, law enforcement officers will be able to receive POST certification credits for participating in the training.
