“The bigger the better”: Nachopalooza at La Luna Mexican Restaurant
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – “The bigger the better.”
This is the motto for La Luna Owner Antonio Olivares when it comes to the restaurant’s Nachopalooza.
“We want to make it bigger, and for people to get excited. It’s fun to do something different.”
On Thursday, the restaurant served up a massive container of Nachos featuring tortilla chips, queso, beef, chicken, rice, onions, peppers, pico de gallo, jalapenos, black beans, and lettuce.
And it was even too much for the concoction’s creator Felipe Barajas to lift on his own, but the ovation Barajas and Olivares received for pouring the Nachos onto a table at the center of the dining room is evidence of the community’s appreciation.
“A lot of customers here have been our customers for so many years, so I’m trying to give something back,” Barajas said.
“We try to help the community because the community is helping us,” Olivares said.
Plus, it was all free!
“Who doesn’t like free? C’mon, who doesn’t like free, you know?” Barajas said.
This is the second go-around for Nachopalooza, and this pile of Nachos was twice as big as the first.
And as evidenced by the big crowd and thumbs up, the community approved.
