Ribbon cutting held for new bike path in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday evening in Carbondale for the city’s newest bike path.

Carbondale Mayor Carolin Harvey attended to share a few words.

“Good evening and thank you all for joining us as we celebrate our newest addition to our bike network,” said Mayor Harvey. “ Every mile of bike lane and every multi use path that we build we serve our commitment to healthier and a more fun future for Carbondale.”

The new path’s name is the Mud Line.

Local cyclists from different cycling clubs and bike shops attended and tastes ice cream treats before people took off down the new path.

The start of the path is located on North Oakland Avenue and is a mile long.

The path is a link between the rural outskirts of Carbondale and the Southern Illinois airport.
