GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – The northbound lanes of the Purchase Parkway have reopened to traffic at the 16.5 mile marker in Graves County where two semi trucks were involved in crashes near the same location Friday morning.

The southbound lanes remain blocked. It is estimated to be blocked until about 6:30 p.m.

A semi loaded with processed chicken crashed blocking the southbound lanes of the Purchase Parkway near the KY 58 overpass. As responders were working that crash a northbound semi crashed blocking the northbound lanes nearby, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The northbound lanes have been cleared and one northbound lane is open in the work zone.

These crash site is in the extended work zone along the Purchase Parkway where traffic is restricted to one lane which complicates response efforts.

Southbound drivers are forced to detour off at the I-69/KY 80 Exit 21 Interchange to follow U.S. 45 South to return to the Parkway at Fulton.

Drivers who regularly travel U.S. 45 between Fulton and Mayfield should be aware of additional traffic flow along the detour.
