3 urban agriculture projects in southeast MO to receive grants

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KBSI) – Three agricultural projects in southeast Missouri will receive funding from the Missouri Department of Agriculture.
The MDA announced a total of eight projects will receive funding through Urban Agricultural Cost-Share Grant. The grant will provide up to $10,000 per project for expenses associated with agriculture.
Eligible projects may include introducing a new crop or product to an area, expanding the use of an agricultural product, or adding value to agricultural products, according to Missouri Department of Agriculture. Projects that provide economic benefit and potential for revenue and job creation are given priority.
Projects can include developing small agribusinesses, implementing production infrastructure, creating direct distribution venues, developing agricultural workforce or providing training and development skills for agricultural business sustainability.
Missouri Agriculture Department awarded funding to the following projects in 2023. Those in bold are in the FOX23 viewing area.

- GRO Health Center, St. Louis
- Wildside Urban Farm, Kansas City
- Sweet Mayhem, Kennett
- Greathouse Garden, St. Louis
- Faith Works Farm, Springfield
- South Side Farms, Cape Girardeau
- Old Town Cape, Cape Girardeau
