Saint Francis Foundation hosts annual Color Dash at Arena Park in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – The Saint Francis Foundation hosts its annual Color Dash event to raise proceeds to the Pink Up campaign on October 7 at Arena Park.

Pink Up serves as a campaign to raise awareness of breast, prostate, lung, and colon cancer.

The annual Color Dash event consists of a 5k run and 1-mile Fun Walk and participants volunteer to be doused in chalk-like powder of vibrant colors.

Nate Gautier, who is the Development Officer of Special Events says, “What they do is they have a little cup of their color and somebody will run through their station and then they just throw it all over them. Some people raise their arms up and smile and take the colors, it’s a lot of fun, it’s very unique.”

Red Letter, Liberty, Ebb and Flow, Cape Radiology Group, and many more have assisted with proceeds to help Pink Up continue to to service the community with free cancer screenings.

Stacy Huff, who is Executive Director of Saint Francis Foundation says, “Each year we do about a thousand mammograms that we pay for through the Dig for Life Fund. Without that, we know a lot of folks would not have early detection of breast cancer. So, we’re trying to help save those lives.”

The event is from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
