Cape Girardeau man arrested after shooting investigation

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A Cape Girardeau man faces several charges after police responded to a report of shots fired.
Kalum Campbell, 28, of Cape Girardeau faces charges of Class A felony assault in the first degree, three counts of felony armed criminal action, two counts of Class B felony assault in the first degree and Class D felony of unlawful possession of a firearm.
On Sunday, September 17, around 1:30 a.m. officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to the area of the 600 and 700 block of Bellevue for a report of shots fired.
Officers arrived and found multiple items of evidence indicating shots had been fired.
Officers also found one victim with an apparent gunshot wound a few blocks from the original scene.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of what appeared to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
On October 10, the Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for Campbell’s arrest.
On October 12, around 11:50 a.m., officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department along with the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Campbell at a home in the 0-100-block of Rivercrest Drive.
Campbell was arrested for the warrant and is being held with no bond.
