Juvenile arrested after 1 injured, vehicle stolen in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A juvenile was arrested Saturday after a shooting Thursday night in Carbondale that left one man injured.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the juvenile charging him/her with aggravated vehicular hijacking, vehicular hijacking and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.
The juvenile was arrested Saturday night around 10:15 p.m. during a traffic stop in Williamson County, according to Carbondale police.
Information obtained in the investigation led to the discovery of the stolen Jeep in the 400 block of North Oakland Avenue. The juvenile was jailed on the warrant, pending a hearing.
City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 900 block of West McDaniel Street at 11 p.m. on October 12 regarding a man who had been shot.
Officers arrived and found a man with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The victim reported that he was stopped in his vehicle talking to a black male he did not know when the male shot him through a car window.
The victim got out of his vehicle. Then, the suspect entered the vehicle and left the area, according to police.
The victim was released from the hospital.
The case remains active and ongoing.
