14th Annual Vintage Now Fashion Show raises $167K
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The 14th Annual Vintage Now Fashion Show took place Saturday at the Show Me Center.
The event raised $167,000 in net proceeds to benefit the Safe House of Southeast Missouri. This year’s total is about $10,000 more than last year’s event.
There were also a record audience of about 2,300 people.
“A night of empowerment, uplifting, community, connection,” said Jeanne Muckerman, a Vintage Now volunteer spokesperson. “This is our 14th year of holding this fundraiser and it actually benefits the Safehouse of Southeast Missouri.”
The benefit raised $157,000 at last year’s show in support of domestic violence survivors.
“It makes it possible for us to provide free services to survivors of domestic violence, adults and children throughout Southeast Missouri,” said Jessic Hill, executive director of Safehouse of Southeast Missouri.
That is why Hill says it is a great partnership that the whole community benefits from.
“Adults and children throughout southeast Missouri come to the Safehouse either to stay in our safe and secure shelter or to receive nonresidential services through our outreach office,” said Hill.
All thanks to Vintage Now for shedding light on this foundation. With 69 volunteer models plus a collaboration with Cape Central arts students, the event serves as a reminder that inclusivity is the goal.
“With this year’s theme, “Imagination Ode to the Arts” we’re expecting to see a wide variety of creativity at play,” said Muckerman. “Live musicians, a finale dress is going to be painted over here for the final model to wear.”
Artist Malcolm McCray and the show’s creator Deb Neighbors helped put the show together.
“We’re just really, really grateful for every single sponsor who makes all of this wonderful production,” said Muckerman.
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Safehouse of Southeast Missouri.
