Carbondale Police Department hosts ‘Christmas Store’ and ‘Coats for Kids’ initiative for its 23rd year

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – The Carbondale Community Christmas Store is open for the 23rd year.
Each year the Christmas Store along with the Coats for Kids program, provides new coats and new toys for children ages 1 thru 10 from Carbondale.
The Christmas Store is held by the Carbondale Police Department as a way to give back to the community.
The Department is accepting donations of toys and coats.
Donations can be dropped off at the lobby of the Carbondale Police Department and the Civic Center Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
New coats can also be dropped off at the SIU Men’s and Women’s basketball games through December 8.
Finacial donations can be presented to the Carbondale Police Department.
The Carbondale Kiwanis Club donated $500 to go towards coats for kids.
Chief Stan Reno of Carbondale Police Department said, “Together we can make a difference for children in need in the Carbondale community. The staff and police officers with the Department are proud to continue this initiative to help provide for the families of 150 children during the holiday season.”
All donations are appreciated.
