Food drive competition added to upcoming basketball tournament

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – First State Community Bank is adding a Food Drive Face Off to to an upcoming girls high school basketball tournament.

Eleven schools participating in the Holiday Classic will also compete to raise the most funds and food for Southeast Missouri Food Bank.

The food drive has two elements, according to Donor Relations & Communications Manager Heather Collier with the Southeast Missouri Food Bank.

From December 1-20 each school will have a virtual food drive. Each dollar donated will equal one item of food and will help determine the winner. First State Community Bank will match up to $1,000 in virtual food drive donations.

At each tournament there will be a box for each school where fans can donate non perishable food.

The 28th First State Holiday Classic will be December 16-17 at Saxony Lutheran High School and December 18 and 20-21 at the Show Me Center.
