Three Rivers College partners with Central Methodist University for nursing agreement

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (KBSI) – A partnership between Three Rivers College and Central Methodist University will present nursing students with a seamless transfer.

The articulation agreement was signed by Three Rivers College President Dr. Wesley Payne and Central Methodist University Provost Dr. Rita Gulstad on October 27.

“We try to create as many pathways as possible so that they can move on and better their lives,” said Will Cooper, chairman of Career Studies and Workforce Development for Three Rivers College.

The program is meant to prepare students achieve an Associate of Applied Science degree, to apply for licensure by examination as a registered nurse, and to use the nursing process in providing safe and effective nursing care for clients in structured primary of secondary care settings.

“It’s extremely important to know exactly what you need to do,” said Regional Site Coordinator Karen Lovette. “With our BSN program, no additional science course or economics courses are required.”

Both general education and nursing education courses are included in the program of study.

Degree audits are free and free of obligation. The agreement also provides a pathway for nursing students to seek higher education without the loss of credit and at a reasonable price.

“You can be in two classes for the first half of first semester and two classes the second half and and you’re full time over the semester,” said Lovette.
