1 dead, 1 injured in crash in Caldwell County

PRINCETON, Ky. (KBSI) – A Hopkinsville man died and another was injured in a crash Monday evening in Caldwell County.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department requested Kentucky State Police Post 2 to investigate a deadly crash on KY 672 in Princeton on December 4 at 5:40 p.m.

Jose R. Palacios, 54, of Hopkinsville, was driving a 2022 International truck southbound on KY 672. The International truck dropped off the right shoulder of the road, overcorrected across both lanes of travel causing the truck to overturn down a steep embankment on the north side of the road.

Jose Palacios was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell County coroner. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 5.

A passenger in the vehicle, Jason A. Chyle, 41, of Cadiz, was taken from the scene by Air Ambulance.

The investigation is ongoing by Accident Reconstructionist Trooper Patrick Penrod.

He was assisted on scene by additional Post 2 personnel, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department, Caldwell County EMS, PHI Air Ambulance, Jones Bros wrecker service and the Princeton Fire Department.
