Caruthersville School District voted out of Bootheel Athletic Conference competition for 2023-24 school year

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – Caruthersville School District will not participate in Bootheel Athletic Conference competition for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year.

That is a result of a vote of the other member schools in the Bootheel Athletic Conference.

“While Caruthersville School District did not agree with this decision, we do agree that sportsmanship and safety at athletic events are of the utmost importance,” according to a post on the Caruthersville School District #18 Facebook page. “The behavior and actions of our students, athletes, staff, fans, and community must exemplify the tradition of excellence of our athletic programs.

Staff is assessing current schedules and will update them as soon as possible.

Any questions regarding this matter can be directed to Superintendent of Schools Brad Gerling at 573-333-6100.

Caruthersville played a high school boys basketball game at Kelly High School on Tuesday, December 5 and with several protocols in place.
