CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened Sunday in Calloway County.

KSP Post 1 received a call from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office requesting troopers investigate a three vehicle crash on US-641 North at the intersection of Radio Road.

Troopers who are trained in collision reconstruction responded to the scene around 12:15 p.m.

An initial investigation revealed that a 2021 Buick Envision, driven by Janice Gream, 72, of Mayfield was traveling westbound on Radio Road. Gream tried to cross US-641.

Cody Mitchell, 29, of Almo was driving a 2023 International rollback wrecker northbound on US-641.

Dennis Loetscher, 41, of Water Valley was driving a 2001 Buick sedan southbound on US-641.

The Buick Envision began crossing the northbound lanes of US-641 into the path of travel of the 2023 International wrecker, according to KSP.

The wrecker hit the driver’s side of the Buick Envision, then continued across the median, striking the 2001 Buick sedan in the southbound lanes and came to a final rest off the road.

The driver of the Buick Envision, Janice Gream, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger of the Buick Envision, Stephen Hall, was airlifted to an out of state hospital.

The drivers of the wrecker and the 2001 Buick sedan did not report any injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing by KSP Trooper Jackson. KSP was assisted on scene by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Murray Police Department, Murray-Calloway County EMS, Air Evac Lifeteam, Calloway County Fire-Rescue, Calloway County Emergency Management, and the Calloway County Coroner.
