Man on parole arrested on burglary, trespassing charges

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – A man on parole faces burglary and trespassing charges after sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary report in Marion.
Deshawn D. Matthews faces charges of residential burglary (Class 1 Felony) and criminal trespass to residence (Class A Misdemeanor).
Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1700 block of Childers Road in Marion on Wednesday, November 29 at 9:48 p.m. for a report of a residential burglary.
The residents reported that an unknown male wearing a grey “puffy” jacket, black sock hat, blue jeans, and a Department of Corrections ankle monitor was found in a pickup truck bed which was parked in the attached garage.
The man was see running southbound from the home after he was confronted by one of the residents.
Deputies searched the home and did not find the suspect.
The resident’s said the suspect left the home into the garage where he was discovered hiding in the bed of the pickup.
They described the suspect as acting erratic and nonsensical in his speech.
The suspect told the resident, “Don’t call the police, I don’t want to be in trouble again.”
More deputies searched the surrounding area and found a man who fit the description about two blocks away.
Matthews was serving a period of parole.
He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
