MoDOT encourages travelers to prepare for changing road conditions
CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – Missouri Department of Transportation encourage motorists to prepare for changing road conditions, as Southeast Missouri transitions into winter weather.
With a mix of rain and snow on the horizon, Southeast District Engineer Mark Croakin says MoDOT is prepared, and encourages surrounding to communities to do so as well.
“This is coming in as rain first; so, you can’t do anything ahead of time, and right now we’re watching the temperatures really close.” Said Croakin.
He also suggests that travelers should watch for updates on roadways before leaving home by looking on the MoDOT road conditions map.
“It’ll show you, as the conditions change; if they’re partly covered, mostly covered, or even fully covered.” According to Croakin.
Motorists are additionally advised to be cautious of snowplows on the road.
“You just need to give our big trucks like this plenty of room. You know, guys in a truck like this can’t always see really close to them. So, stay back and take your time.”
