Homicide investigation underway in Charleston

CHARLESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Police are investigating after a Caruthersville man died after he was shot in Charleston.

On January 1, 2024, at about 4 a.m., the Charleston Department of Public Safety was notified of a person shot in the 500 block of West Ada Street.

Officers responded and found a male subject with gunshot wounds.

He was transported to an area hospital for treatment but did not survive.

The victim was identified as Malik Jones, 20, of Caruthersville, Mo.

Investigating officers are following leads and trying to identify any witnesses.

The investigation is ongoing.
