Cape Girardeau Police Department warns of phone scam

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – According to the Cape Girardeau Police Departments Facebook page, they were made aware of a scam caller.

“We have become aware of a recent scam where an individual calls, identifies themselves as an officer with the Cape Girardeau Police Department and informs you that you have a warrant for your arrest.”

It seems the scammer is targeting females in the bootheel area.

Cape PD says they do not give warrant information over the phone and if you receive a call like this to notify them immediately.
